The budget of the EU as it is these days does not serve the objectives of the Union. It is not big enough to develop credible foreign policy or not even to monitor the correct implementation of EU directives around Europe.

One of the most nationalist and anti-european demonstration that we get from our European leaders is when every 7 years the negotiations for the multi-annual financial frameworks take place. We have to bring this to an end.

The EU should be able to raise its own resources by bringing corporate taxation in, enlarging the VAT percentual contribution and developing environmental taxes where national taxation can’t reach, like on Emissions Trading System or kerosene for planes.
