60 Ideas for Europe

We, as Europeans, have the necessary experience in creating peace and stability in regions once ravaged by war and poverty. Why not apply this experience to the regions that boarder up to the EU, and maybe even beyond? We must take responsibility for other countries and to achieve this goal, it is necessary for the EU to speak with one voice on international issues. Today, the EU is a major player on the political scene. As such, the Union’s foreign policy needs cohesion and continuity, but above all unity. The EU is all too often split in international matters, but a fully developed CFSP will strengthen the impact of EU activities around the globe.

The EU is a unique player in this context. With police, military and civilian capabilities, the EU can play a vital role in avoiding humanitarian catastrophes in areas such as the Balkans, Caucasus, the Middle East and Northern Africa.

Therefore, the Danish European Movement fully supports further development of the CFSP and works hard to inform the public as well as politicians of the advantages that the CFSP has to offer. We therefore feel that development of the CFSP should rank very high on the European Union’s list of priorities.
