The event brought together the EU Institutions and Civil Society allowing European citizens to directly address key EU politicians with their concerns and recommendations about Europe’s future. The Presidents of the EU institutions and main European political parties were present.
On the 23rd of May a Forum of civil society was, where a selection of the ideas posted was discussed during three workshops on the following:
• Political Europe
• Economic and Social Europe
• Education and Cultural Europe
These working groups conclude with the “60 Ideas for Europe” and were debated with EU and national political leaders on the 24th of May in a live TV debate.
The “60 Ideas for Europe” booklet will be published following the Congress. EU and national politicians will be encouraged to consult it in view of the European Parliament campaigns and elections in 2009.
