An internship before or at the end of studies is a valuable experience for students and it unables firms to discover and train new talents. European Universities and Schools encourage a work experience but interns are too often not enough considered and respected. Or students cannot offer themselves the luxury to work for free.
A clear status at the European level should be created in order to encourage mobility. Work placement should be seen as a real added value for firms and students in the context of mobility of persons and the economy of knowledge that the Lisbon strategy wants to create.Author : EMI
